Bikers Against Child Abuse – A Brief History
The Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA) was founded originally in the United States. However, It is a global charity with recognised charitable status both in the US, worldwide and here in the United Kingdom. The charity has a simple ethos:
“Bikers Against Child Abuse, Inc. (B.A.C.A.) exists with the intent to create a safer environment for abused children. We exist as a body of Bikers to empower children to not feel afraid of the world in which they live.
We stand ready to lend support to our wounded friends by involving them with an established, united organization. We work in conjunction with local and state officials who are already in place to protect children.
We desire to send a clear message to all involved with the abused child that this child is part of our organization, and that we are prepared to lend our physical and emotional support to them by affiliation, and our physical presence. We stand at the ready to shield these children from further abuse.”
Why Have We Partnered With Bikers Against Child Abuse?
The facts speak for themselves. Even though the organisations that focus primarily on child protection don’t even know the exact figures on child abuse in the UK, they can highlight their own service data which illustrates the scope of the problem.
Abuse can be multifaceted. It can be neglect, it can be emotional abuse, it can be sexual abuse or even physical abuse. According to the NSPCC, 1 in 20 children have been sexually abused. One in 10 children has experienced neglect. Whilst 1 in 14 children experiences physical abuse. The statistics are horrifying. Yet, this is the tip of the iceberg – hidden abuse continues. This must stop.
